Prematurely-born infants are at high risk of life-long brain damage, caused by harmful oxygen levels in the brain. Startup company OxyPrem AG develops sensors that are capable to monitor oxygen levels in brains oft these fragile human beings in their critical first days and weeks. These help clinicians to react before damage occurs.
I was commissioned to photograph their sensors in a studio setting as well as in their clinical use at Zurich University Hospital’s neonatology intensive care station.
